Hello Readers,
The relentless mistress of time leaves her mark on our faces in the form of fine lines, pores, and acne. But with the skincare routine, we can enhance and reduce these conditions, revealing our timeless beauty.
In this blog post, I will outline a simple skincare routine I have followed for a month. I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), which causes hormonal acne every month. However, when I used these products, I noticed a significant reduction in acne and fine lines. My skin looks smoother, brighter, and more radiant than ever before.
Skincare is more than just washing the face and applying lotions. It is about using the right products per the skin type and concerns and finding what suits your skin. But with so many products and routines in the market, it can be hard to understand where to start.
Here, I am sharing my simple skincare routine, which has helped me to improve my skin and reduce dark spots.
Step 1: Double Cleansing
Cleansing is the first step in any good skincare routine, but it is more significant for us with oily or acne-prone skin. Double cleansing involves using two different cleansers: an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser/facewash. This helps to remove all traces of dirt, oil, and makeup from your skin.
I recommend using the Plum E-Luminence Simply Supple Cleansing Balm as your oil-based cleanser. It is gentle and effective at removing makeup and other dirt on your face without leaving your skin feeling stripped or dry.
Follow it up with the Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash to cleanse your skin and remove any remaining traces of oil or dirt.
Step 2: Toner
Toner is an optional step in a skincare routine. It can also help to hydrate and soothe skin. But, I do not follow this step. If you choose to use a toner, look for one that is alcohol-free and fragrance-free. Alcohol can dry out your skin, while fragrance can irritate it. I will recommend Plum Green Tea Alcohol-Free Toner.
Step 3: Serum
Serums are lightweight treatments that are packed with active ingredients. They can be used to target a variety of skin concerns, such as acne, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. When choosing a serum, look for ingredients appropriate for your skin type.
I recommend using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Face Serum. Niacinamide is a versatile ingredient that can help to improve the appearance of pores, reduce hyperpigmentation, and boost collagen production. Zinc is another beneficial ingredient for acne-prone skin, as it can help to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria.
Step 4: Moisturizer
Moisturizer is essential for keeping skin hydrated and protected. Choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. If you have oily skin, look for a lightweight, gel-based moisturizer. If you have dry skin, look for a richer cream-based moisturizer.
I recommend using emolene, a hydro nourisher that maintains natural moisture. It helps supple and prevent dryness, roughness, and flaking skin.
Step 5: Sunscreen
Sunscreen is the most significant step in any skincare routine, regardless of age. Sunscreen protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the Sun, which can cause premature aging and skin cancer.
Select a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection and an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply sunscreen to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, and ears, at least 15 minutes before going outside.
I recommend using The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Sunscreen Aqua Gel with SPF 50 & PA++++. It’s a gel-based sunscreen which is absorbed quickly into the skin without leaving a white cast. As it has SPF 50, it provides good sun protection and minimizes tan.
I have been using all these products for a month. I am amazed by the results. My fine lines are visibly reduced, and my pores are smaller. My skin looks smoother and younger than it has in years.
This is just a basic skincare routine. You may want to pass or remove steps as per your needs. Also, be sure to consult with a dermatologist if you have any specific skin concerns.
